Luxoflux invites grown-up players back for another game of "good cop (or) bad cop" in this follow-up to 2003's L.A.-based action adventure. As in the original True Crime, players take the role of an unorthodox law enforcement officer, and by their actions and in-game choices, determine the character's morality as they play through the story. In True Crime: New York City, the hero is a former gang member named Marcus Reed, who uses his hard-knocks schooling to powerful effect in the gritty underworld of the Big Apple. As in Streets of L.A., New York City missions play out in freely-roamed, GTA3-style environments, stocked with plenty to see and do even when Marcus isn't working towards a specific mission goal. Key characters are voiced by accomplished screen actors, including Christopher Walken, Laurence Fishburne, and Mickey Rourke, with Marcus Reed portrayed by Avery Waddell.In addition to the full game and support materials, the "Collector's Edition" of True Crime: New York City includes a map of New York City with mission objectives marked, a DVD featuring trailers, music, interviews, and other "Making Of" of video content, and it comes in a special tin case.

This Infinity Ward follow-up to 2003's critically acclaimed Call of Duty pushes farther across the European Theatre of World War II, with missions spanning the desert fighting in North Africa to the tank assaults on the Russian front. First-person shooter enthusiasts are drafted back to the European theatre of World War II, in Call of Duty: The Big Red One, the follow-up to 2004's successful Call of Duty: Finest Hour. As many real-life veterans and history buffs will recognize, the sequel's subtitle is an affectionate name for the United States Army's most decorated division, 1st Infantry. Players take the role of a soldier among its ranks. In addition to a vigorous campaign that leads them past grim landmarks of war-torn Europe and Northern Africa, players are given an opportunity for some light role-playing, as the game's story encourages them to bond with their fellow soldiers. This sense of trust may even carry over to the battlefield, where communication and cooperation are critical. As in an actual firefight, blindly storming an enemy location with guns blazing is seldom the best way to win battles in Call of Duty 2, but enhanced squad commands allow wise soldiers outmaneuver nearly any opponent, through tactics and teamwork.

Joanna Dark, that Rare heroine who raised the bar for console shooters returns to her past with new purpose (and on a new platform), in this 2005 launch title for the Xbox 360. As the title implies, this game is a prequel to the N64 game, set before the original's twisted story of corporate conspiracy. Gamers are challenged to guide Joanna through training as a rookie operative, and help her earn the "perfect" test scores that inspired her ominous nickname. The earlier setting should not imply that all has been said and done, however; while the game's story line may answer old questions about Joanna and her background, it also poses plenty of new question of its own. In addition to its story-driven single-player mode, as Xbox aficionados and fans of the series might expect, Perfect Dark Zero features a variety of cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes, including split-screen shooting for up to four, and online action through the Xbox Live subscription service, capable of hosting more than 50 human players in a single map.

Designed to present grown-up gamers with a well rounded cowboy adventure, Gun tells a classic Western story of revenge and rugged individualism, with the player in the starring role. Colton White was robbed of his heritage by a lifetime of lies; now he aims to take charge of his destiny and become his own man. The game's open-ended mission structure and expansive environments allow players to explore the frontier as they choose. Missions offer a variety of gameplay styles, including stealth action, precision shooting, and horseback riding.Players can develop Colton White to be an upstanding, classic hero, who protects the innocent and follows a code of righteousness, or a vengeful loner, who best serves the frontier community by serving himself first. The game's story progresses through a series of major missions, but many side-quests allow the hero to develop skills and earn scratch. Money and other crucial resources can be gained by collecting bounties, winning at the poker table, or by less civically upstanding means. Gun was developed by veteran studio Neversoft, previously renowned as the creator of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series. Key characters in Gun are voiced by a number of accomplished screen actors, including Tom Skerritt, Lance Henriksen, and Kris Kristofferson. The game's story was written by screenwriter Randall Jahnson (Sunset Strip, The Mask of Zorro, The Doors).

Virtual Navy SEALs are deployed in another high-stakes adventure of clandestine operations and global intrigue, as Sony's SOCOM series returns for its third tour of duty. Like earlier editions, SOCOM 3 features squad-based assaults against well-protected, heavily armed targets. Multiplayer modes challenge teammates to work together, while solo players can give orders to squad members through a new "Team Command Actions" context-sensitive interface. Vehicles play a bigger role in this adventure, on land and in the water. Both human- and AI-controlled characters can pilot available Humvees and SOC-R Assault Boats.
